“Three screens and a cloud.” That’s been Microsoft’s vision and mantra for the past five years. SkyDrive is that cloud component, and Windows 8 is doing some very interesting things with it.
For starters, your Microsoft account comes with 7GB of free cloud storage. That’s nothing special though; free, sub-10GB online storage accounts are piling up like 1GB flash drives. It’s how Microsoft has woven SkyDrive directly into the Windows experience that makes it unique. A great example is how it can sync your PC settings across computers. Log in to any Windows 8 computer or tablet with your Microsoft account, and things like your colors, wallpaper, keyboard and mouse preferences, themes, and app settings are applied auto-magically.
