Apple’s Time Machine is often cited as the inventor of file versioning, but in reality Microsoft has had it since Windows Server 2003 (called Volume Shadow Copy and Previous Versions). Apple only gets the credit for figuring out how to expose it.
File History is the latest version of Previous Versions, only this time it’s not buried deep into menus where no one will ever find it. Even cooler is moving your File History to SkyDrive, which makes it available to you anywhere from any Windows 8 PC.
