System builder Velocity Micro Inc., based in Richmond, Va., has announced the immediate availability of systems powered by unlocked 4th Generation Intel Core i7 processors and the Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition. Formerly code-named IvyBridge-E, these LGA 2011 socket processors provide extreme power for increased performance, better security, and more responsiveness, especially in high demand, multithreaded tasks.
Velocity Micro Raptor desktops utilize the power of unlocked processors for CPU-intensive applications such as content creation, encoding, and multidisplay, multi-GPU gaming. Features of these new Intel processors include:
- Up to six cores, 12 threads, and 15MB Intel Smart Cache
- Extreme overclockability
- Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0
- Integrated Memory Controller—four channels of DDR3 1,866 MHz
- 40 PCI Express Lanes for increased performance with multi-GPU configurations
