In anticipation of Windows 8, interactive display manufacturer MultiTouch Ltd. has rolled out two large, fully compatible multitouch displays. The 42-inch and 55-inch MultiTaction multitouch displays support unlimited touch along with Windows 8 native pen tracking and real-life object interaction.
The MultiTaction Cell 42-inch (MT420W8) and 55-inch (MT550W8) feature embedded Windows 8 on Intel Core i7. In a press release submitted to ChannelPro-SMB, MultiTouch says the models are “well-positioned for clients seeking large, integrated Windows 8 devices, particularly for public spaces.”
Both the 42-inch and 55-inch displays enable clients to run applications from the Windows 8 store, “the same applications that run on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop PCs,” the press release states.
In addition, developers can also use their preferred development platforms using such industry standard interfaces such as TUIO and XML streams. MultiTouch’s Cornerstone SDK is also fully supported.
“We have long said that touch interface is the way of the future for consumers and businesses,” says MultiTouch CEO Petri Martikainen. “With Windows 8 running across multiple devices, we will see the number of interactive applications grow exponentially.”
