Epson’s new WorkForce DS-510 boasts increased efficiencies, including scan to cloud.
July 30, 2013
Epson America Inc., a provider of business imaging solutions, with U.S. headquarters in Long Beach, Calif., has expanded its lineup of professional-grade scanning solutions with the WorkForce DS-510 sheet-fed scanner. This compact scanner offers a range of features to increase efficiency, including scan-to-cloud capabilities with one-touch button, fast scan speeds, and the ability to scan to email and PDF. The WorkForce DS-510 comes with a software package including Epson Document Capture Pro, advanced color and image adjustment capabilities, OCR software, and TWAIN and ISIS drivers for compatibility with third-party programs.
Epson Document Capture Pro software for Windows PC or Mac allows users to immediately scan to cloud services, including Google Docs, SharePoint, and Evernote with one touch, and access documents from multiple devices or share with others. Document Capture Pro also enables users to manage and route documents by scanning directly to email, FTP sites, or any computer folder. Businesses can leverage networking capabilities using an optional network module (sold separately) to support up to 100 workstations with full scanner functionality.
The WorkForce DS-510 measures 6.1 x 11.7 x 6 inches and features scan speeds of up to 26 ppm/52 ipm. It can scan both sides of one sheet in one pass, as well as a stack of up to 50 pages with its built-in Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). It is also equipped with ultrasonic double-feed detection technology, which senses if more than a single page has been fed and automatically stops the feeding to avoid missing pages or jamming.
The WorkForce DS-510 offers versatile paper handling, from rigid ID cards and stacks of business cards to documents up to 36 inches. It can also scan folded pages without using a carrier sheet—both sides will be scanned, stitched together, and saved digitally.
Delivering high image quality, the WorkForce DS-510 also offers new advanced color and image adjustment capabilities. Color Enhance captures specific and continuously variable colors from the original document before converting to black and white; and Color Dropout removes any color from the scanned image. Users can save up to six different colors to capture or drop for each scan profile, which can be saved for repeat use, ultimately allowing for a wide range of options for simplifying the capture and maintenance of data. The scanner also includes features such as automatic paper size detection, hole-punch removal, automatic de-skewing, and background color removal.
Additional features of the WorkForce DS-510 include: one-touch scanning with up to 30 user-definable scan jobs, duty cycle of up to 3,000 sheets per day, and USB 2.0 connection. In addition, the scanner is both RoHS compliant and recyclable.
The Epson WorkForce DS-510 will be available in September through major retailers and distributors. It comes with a one-year limited warranty, along with optional extended warranties and overnight exchange programs. MSRP is $399.99.
