Eaton has announced the release of the Eaton 5SC UPS in North America, delivering “affordable” and “reliable” power protection for small business servers, storage, and network equipment. The 5SC rounds out the Eaton 5 Series product portfolio and complements the 5S, 5P, and 5PX UPS. The 5 Series product family provides advanced feature sets with power management software and “the best” price to performance ratio of the 5 Series class.
The new 5SC features a LCD interface that provides a clear status of key UPS parameters, such as input and output voltage, load and battery level, and estimated runtime. It is designed to protect tower servers, NAS, network equipment, and similar IT applications. Its compact footprint accommodates tight spaces, such as network closets, medical offices, ATMs, ticket machines, and kiosks.
“Eaton understands the needs of IT managers and their network equipment, and the 5SC delivers an affordable UPS with an easy-to-read display that serves as a personal dashboard to quickly and easily view status information and data,” says Hervé Tardy, vice president and general manager, distributed power quality division, Eaton. “The 5SC is accompanied by Eaton’s complimentary Intelligent Power Manager (IPM) software, which integrates with leading virtualization platforms to automate live migration of virtual machines to ensure business continuity during power events.”
Additionally, the 5SC features USB and serial connectivity. The USB port is HID compliant for integration into Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. When operating in battery mode, the 5SC provides a “high quality” output signal for any sensitive equipment connected. The 5SC also corrects a wide range of input voltage variations through continuous regulation without the use of batteries, and ensures consistent input voltage to the connected equipment.
Eaton offers a three-year warranty for the 5SC that covers both the UPS and the batteries. Equipped with Eaton’s ABM technology, the 5SC also increases battery service life by 50 percent with front panel battery replacement to extend UPS service life.
The 5SC is available with a power rating range of 500 to 1500 volt-amperes across seven models. For more information about the Eaton 5SC UPS, visit http://www.eaton.com/5SC.
