IBM to Integrate Liebert Solutions in Its EMDC Products

Emerson Network Power sees scalability as a growing option for SMBs data centers.

Emerson Network Power’s Liebert power and cooling products are now being integrated into IBM’s Enterprise Modular Data Center (EMDC) products. According to Emerson Network Power, the partnership will better equip SMBs to “meet unpredictable growth through a scalable, on-demand capacity approach that allows data center capabilities to be added when and where they are needed.”

EMDC is a large data center design concept that employs pre-engineered design strategies. By building to a design that can grow as needed, SMB clients can scale their data centers accordingly, without disruption to existing operations.

IBM vice president of site and facilities services Steven Sams says his company shares a vision of scalable data centers with Emerson Network Power. “Data centers can be constructed in a flexible way,” he says, “with the ability to scale on-demand and significantly reduce initial capital and operating costs.”

Fred Stack, vice president of marketing for Liebert Precision Cooling at Emerson Network Power, says today’s data center managers struggle to “balance organizational pressure to deliver both efficiency and availability.” Going forward, he says, it will be scalable solutions like EMDC that will best address those concerns.
