GFI Software Rolls Out Two Hosted E-Mail Solutions

GFI MAX family of products begins with MailEdge, a hosted filtering solution, and MailProtection, a cloud-based security tool.

GFI Software, a Raleigh-based infrastructure provider for SMBs, has launched two hosted e-mail security and continuity solutions: GFI MAX MailProtection and GFI MAX MailEdge. Both products form part of the new GFI MAX family of hosted IT solutions from GFI Software. Both come at the heels of GFI's acquisition of Katharion, a hosted e-mail security provider based in L.A.

GFI MAX MailProtection is a cloud-based e-mail security solution protects against spam and viruses while also providing e-mail continuity. It uses a multi-layered approach to spam filtering to stop spam, viruses, and other e-mail threats before they reach the network or mail serv

er. Incoming e-mail is redirected to the service's fully redundant, multi-tenanted network and application architecture, which processes messages in real-time via both traditional spam filtering techniques and leading-edge approaches to message analysis including authenticity checks, message fingerprinting, heuristic rule sets, extensive URI databases, real-time message source analysis, and customizable whitelists and blacklists.

GFI MAX MailEdge is a hosted frontline e-mail filtering and continuity solution for organizations requiring an additional layer of security before e-mail reaches the mail server. It is designed specifically to be used only in combination with an existing on-premise software or hardware anti-spam/anti-virus solution, enabling customer to maintain existing set-ups while being able to filter inbound e-mail in the cloud prior to arrival.

"Through its IP reputation filters, connection throttling, directory harvesting protection, and optional greylisting, GFI MAX MailEdge is able to block up to 90 percent % of all spam emails and e-mail threats before they reach the customer's network," GFI Software states in a press release to EH Publishing.

Both services provide business continuity thanks to integrated queuing and on-demand mail functionality. Additional GFI MAX MailProtection and GFI MAX MailEdge benefits include:
