Mobile Wireless N Router Makes CES Debut

TRENDnet rolls out its mobile solution for "people on the go." The ultra-compact 150 Mbps Mobile Wireless N Router connects to the Internet from any 3 G/4 G cellular phone signal.

TRENDnet, maker of wired and wireless networking hardware, chose the week of the International Consumer Electronics Show to roll out its latest compact wireless N router.

TRENDnet says its new ultra-compact 150 Mbps Mobile Wireless N Router, model TEW-655BR3G, is designed for "people on the go."

The 150 Mbps Mobile Wireless N Router connects to the Internet using either a traditional hard wired connection or via compatible USB modem (using a 3G/4G Internet service provider such as SprintTM, AT&TTM, or VerizonTM).

The greatest flexibility, however, comes from the router's ability to connect to the Internet from any 3 G/4 G cellular phone signal.

There is no installation required, says TRENDnet. "Simply plug the 3 G/4 G USB modem into the router to share an Internet connection with up six times the speed and three times the coverage of a wireless g solution."

At CES TRENDnet explained to show attendees that with the Mobile Wireless N Router, there will be "no more scrambling to find Internet access while on the go."

In a press release to EH Publishing, TRENDnet explained, "Now you can share the Internet at a job site, while carpooling to work, in between flights at the airport, and even while on vacation with the family."

Sonny Su, technology director for TRENDnet says the device is for "real-life portability."

"The TEW-655BR3G has a rechargeable and replaceable 1.5 hour lithium ion battery," he says. "The connection speed users receive from their 3 G Internet provider currently tops out around 3 Mbps. The router's 150Mbps wireless n technology provides ample bandwidth for all connected users."

The product sports decent wireless encryption, too. Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS) integrates other WPS supported clients at the touch of a button, according to TRENDnet.

The 150Mbps Mobile Wireless N Router, model TEW-655BR3G, will be available from online and retail partners in early April.

The MSRP for the TEW-655BR3G is US $99.99.
